The city government is planning to conduct a house-to-house vaccination against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to fast-track the continuing mass inoculation rollout in the area.

Dr. April Mae Maquilang, the city health office (CHO) immunization coordinator, said Monday they are already coordinating with the barangays and concerned stakeholders for the said plan.

She said the move is aimed to further expand the inoculation coverage and capture the remaining vulnerable individuals.

As of November 5, a total of 309,022 Covid-19 vaccines have been administered by the CHO since vaccination started here last March.

Some 136,200 residents or 29.63 percent of the 459,732 eligible target population in the area are already fully vaccinated, while 172,822 others or 37.59 percent are waiting for their second doses.

“We’re also working on opening more vaccination sites in the coming days,” Maquilang told reporters.

In the past seven days, she said the city’s vaccination team was able to administer an average of 2,059 doses daily.

On Friday, the CHO managed to administer 4,208 doses, with 1,785 individuals receiving their first doses and 2,423 with their second doses.

Maquilang said the vaccination coverage in the city continued to increase with its expansion to the rest of the adult population or those aged 18 and above and the pediatric group or 12 to 17 years old.

She said the daily inoculation schedule also now accepts walk-in recipients being conducted in the city’s rural health units, barangay health stations, and four other “mega” vaccination sites.

The “mega” sites, which are capable of administering over 1,000 doses daily, are situated in three shopping malls — SM, KCC, and Robinsons — and at the city fish port complex.

The city government also deployed since last month a mobile vaccination facility dubbed “Bakuna Bus,” which conducts vaccination twice a week in selected areas within the city’s 26 barangays.
