Go renews call for vigilance vs. Covid-19

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Thursday renewed his call for “bayanihan” in being vigilant amid the emerging threats of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“Let us remain vigilant and follow the rules. Make it a habit to wear a mask, (practice social distancing), wash your hands and if you don’t need to go out, just stay at home to avoid contracting this disease. Let’s continue our heroism with others,” Go said in a statement.

In a relief distribution activity in Carcar City, southern Cebu province, he urged the residents in a video message to help the government in the fight against the pandemic.

Go reminded the townsfolk that the government could not bear all the burden in facing the public health crisis, which is global in scale, pointing out how the front-liners have become exhausted in the fight against the deadly virus.

“Hindi rin kakayanin ng mga front-liners kung patuloy na dadami ang kailangang dalhin sa mga ospital (Our front-liners could no longer cope if more people need to be taken to the hospitals). Preventing the spread of Covid-19 starts with us by being responsible citizens and following health and safety protocols,” he said.

The chair of the Senate committee on health and demography said preventing the spread of Covid-19 starts with each Filipino by being a responsible citizen who follows health and safety protocols

His team provided meals and masks to 1,658 persons with disabilities, farmers, fisherfolk, “habal-habal” drivers, candle vendors, and barangay officials.
