The city government here on Wednesday launched the “Vax to the Max House-to-House” campaign to further bolster the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination rollout in the villages.

Mayor Joseph Evangelista said the drive particularly focuses on persons with disabilities and senior citizens facing difficulties in going to vaccination hubs.

“We target PWDs and old residents with comorbidities especially those incapable of going to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination centers,” he said.

Health personnel from the local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) will lead teams together with health workers and peacekeepers in going around the city’s 40 villages.

The program aligns with a vaccination campaign “Bakunahan sa Barangay” implemented earlier that conducted inoculation in city villages with low vaccination turnout.

“I commend each village official in giving a nod and support to these undertakings,” the mayor said.

Evangelista noted that the city currently has a total of 104,036 fully vaccinated residents or 94.18 percent of the 110,000 target population.

“I am certain that we can meet our target before the month ends,” he said.

As of Tuesday, the city has 150 active Covid-19 cases and 26 new recoveries.

The mayor said 97 percent of all active cases in the city are mild and asymptomatic due to the high vaccination rate.
