General

Some roads in the province of Ilocos Norte remain closed or have limited access due to landslide from heavy rains caused by Severe Tropical Storm Maring.

In a Facebook post Thursday, the provincial government said that Kilometers 432 and 434 of the Ilocos Norte-Abra Road remains closed to traffic.

“The clearing of these roads are under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH),” said Nueva Era town mayor Aldrin Garvida.

Meanwhile, the Ilocos Norte-Apayao Road section in Barangay Maan-anteng of Solsona, Ilocos Norte is still one lane passable to all types of vehicles due to an eroded slope protection and unpaved shoulder.

With warning signs already installed, motorists are reminded to take extra precaution when passing through the area.

In Vintar town, a wider road going to its remotest villages and sub-villages particularly in Isic-isic is being established for easier passage of motorists and commuters this rainy season.

The municipal engineering department is conducting the road clearing operations.
