Manggahan Bridge one-way to Ortigas starting Aug. 2

Motorists should start mapping alternate routes as the Pasig City government will implement a one-way traffic scheme along Manggahan Bridge, from East Bank Road to West Bank Road, beginning Monday.

In an advisory posted on social media, the city’s Public Information Office said the bridge will be exclusive to Ortigas-bound vehicles.

Only vehicles coming from the side of East Bank Road headed toward West Bank Road are allowed to pass through the bridge.

The city government reminded local motorists to take alternate routes as those heading north toward Marcos Highway along Amang Rodriguez Avenue will have to take Ortigas Avenue and do a U-turn toward East Bank Road.

The advisory did not specify the timeline of the experimental traffic scheme.

The Manggahan bridge is the common route from Rizal and Marikina headed southbound toward Ortigas.

No explanation was provided on the experimental scheme but most netizens posted negative reactions on the Pasig City Public Information Office Facebook account.

“Pasig City Public Information Office…tanong lang po? Ano po ba o para saan po ba itong experimental traffic scheme nyo…para po ba mag luwag Ang traffic….PIO….Paliwanag nyo po Sana Kung palagay nyo ay luluwag Ang traffic pag pinatupad nyo Yan (Question: What is the experimental traffic scheme for? For a better traffic situation? Please explain if this will free up traffic once you implement this),” netizen Bal de Mesa posted.
