The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) said all possible angles will be investigated as to the cause of the fire that hit one of the train’s cars between Guadalupe and Buendia stations on Saturday night.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the MRT-3 said Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary Eymard Eje, officer-in-charge general manager of the MRT-3, has tasked the MRT-3 Safety and Security Unit to supervise the investigation of the fire incident that injured four passengers.

“Sinimulan na rin kaninang umaga ang thorough inspection ng iba’t ibang components ng depektibong bagon bilang bahagi ng imbestigasyon sa pagtutukoy ng sanhi ng insidente (This morning, a thorough inspection of the different components of the defective train car has already begun as part of the investigation into the cause of the incident),” the MRT-3 said.

The inspection, it said, was performed by the maintenance and technical personnel of the MRT-3 led by MRT-3 Director for Operations Michael Capati and the Safety and Security Unit led by retired Brig. Gen. Joselito Salido.

The MRT-3 management said the fire incident was reported at around 9:15 p.m. and was declared fire out at 9:51 p.m.

The train operations resumed Sunday.

It said rescue personnel attended to the injuries of three women and a man who sustained bruises after jumping off the train.
