An initial group of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Negros Occidental will soon receive individual computerized titles under the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling or SPLIT Project of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

In a report on Thursday, the DAR-Negros Occidental 2, which covers land reform areas in the southern part of the province, said it is among the first in the country to generate computerized titles for individual beneficiaries.

The rollout will include titles covering 5.5779 hectares of landholdings located in Barangay Agboy, Candoni town.

“Once we receive these C-Titles, we will immediately release this to our farmer-beneficiaries,” Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Arnulfo Figueroa said in a statement.

He added that more computerized titles will be released by the Registry of Deeds for other landholdings in southern Negros, where the DAR aims to subdivide almost 20,452 hectares of awarded agricultural lands.

“Many farmers in Negros Occidental granted lands under the agrarian reform program have been waiting for their individual land titles. Some have even waited for decades,” Figueroa said.

He credited the hard work, commitment, and dedication of the DAR-Negros Occidental 2 personnel, together with the agency’s SPLIT team, partner- agencies, and ARBs for the smooth implementation of the project.

In northern Negros, the DAR targets to subdivide 3,174.68 hectares into individual land titles.

The World Bank-funded SPLIT Project seeks to fast-track land subdivision/parcelization of collective certificates of land ownership award (CCLOAs) and eventually issue individual land titles to ARBs previously awarded with lands and collective CLOAs under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.

The DAR also aims to improve land tenure security and stabilize the property rights of ARBs through a speedy subdivision of about 1.368 million hectares of land nationwide.
