The province of Negros Oriental is gearing up for the third run of the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” National Vaccination Days on Thursday and Friday with plenty of vaccines available, a key health official here said on Wednesday.

Assistant Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Liland Estacion, told the Philippine News Agency that local government units (LGUs), the provincial mobile vaccination team, and other vaccination sites are already prepared for the mass vaccination against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“We have plenty of vaccines available and we are appealing to the people to come and avail of these during the nationwide mass vaccination as approved by President Rodrigo Duterte and the NIATF (National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases),” she said in mixed English and Cebuano.

Estacion, however, said there is still no advisory on when the province can start the inoculation rollout for the pediatric sector aged 5-11 years old.

She said her office received information that the Department of Health in Region 7 (DOH-7) already has the vaccines for this group but they have not received a word yet as to when these will be delivered to Negros Oriental.

Meanwhile, as of February 8, the province has fully vaccinated 481,221 individuals (including those who received the one-shot Janssen vaccine), representing 48.57 percent of the target population for vaccination of 990,637.

Also, 525,959 other individuals received the first dose and are awaiting their second dose, Estacion said.
