The newly-installed director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 10 (Northern Mindanao) has pledged to continue the best practices of the police force.

“We shall sustain the current policies and enhance managing police operations, through the conduct of targeted or intelligence-driven police operations,” Brig. Gen. Benjamin Acorda said in his speech during the turnover ceremony at Camp 1Lt Vicente G Alagar, the PRO-10 headquarters, here Thursday.

He replaces Brig. Gen. Rolando Anduyan who is set to retire.

Acorda asked the regional police force to support the intensified anti-criminality campaign, which includes the war on illegal drugs.

He also sought to strengthen the cooperation of the police with other government agencies, especially the local government units, in addition to implementing “internal cleansing” or getting rid of “police scalawags”.

The turnover ceremony was witnessed by Gen. Dionardo Carlos, chief of the Philippine National Police, who was PRO-10’s guest of honor.

As the 2022 election nears, Carlos reminded the police force of their duty as keepers of peace and order, and as a partner of the Commission on Elections.

“We should work professionally for peaceful elections. We will be all aligned with the task ahead,” he said.

Carlos also reminded the police to always practice discipline.

“We should always present ourselves in public with the proper decorum,” he said.

During Carlos’ visit, several newly purchased vehicles were turned over to the PRO-10 headquarters.
