No new Covid-19 deaths among police, over 320 recover

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded no new deaths among its ranks and 324 of its personnel have recovered from the coronavirus.

Latest data posted on its Facebook Monday showed that since the pandemic started last year, 35,807 police personnel have recovered from the illness, 2,412 are tagged as active cases, 125 are new ones, while deaths remain at 113.

The PNP’s total number of coronavirus cases since last year is now 38,332.

Based on the PNP data as of Sept. 18, more than 131,000 police personnel have been fully protected with the required two doses and more than 80,000 have taken their first dose.

Only 1,554 out of the 222,711 or 0.7 percent are yet to get their shots.

Police and military uniformed personnel are among the front-liners in the fight against the coronavirus, manning checkpoints and assisting in health facilities and vaccination sites.

For the military, data obtained from Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs office showed that a total of 150,839 have received the first dose and 82,865 are fully vaccinated.

As of Sept. 20, the military has 1,577 active cases, 37 deaths and 16,493 recoveries out of the total 18,746 infections since the start of the pandemic.
