Only a small percentage of police officers are still hesitant to get vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said on Thursday.

“Right now, I just checked with our continuing online survey and I have seen that 99.35 percent ng aming personnel ay willing magpabakuna (are willing to have themselves vaccinated). We only have around 0.65 percent or 1,443 personnel who are hesitating to get vaccinated out of the 222,692. That is very small compared to the more than 50 percent figure who do not want to be vaccinated back when we started our survey,” Eleazar told reporters on the sidelines of the 120th Police Service Anniversary celebration in Camp Crame.

He said while these personnel have their own reasons for refusing the jabs, he is hopeful that they will be eventually encouraged to get vaccinated.

He, meanwhile, said 66 percent of all PNP personnel have been fully vaccinated while around 30 percent are waiting for their second dose.

“Out of these (222,692) personnel namin 66 percent have been fully vaccinated, 30 percent ay naghihintay ng pangalawang bakuna o may isang bakuna (around 30 percent are only waiting for their second dose), so that is 96 percent of our personnel ay nabakunahan na at least once (who got vaccinated at least once),” he said.

As of Thursday, the PNP has logged 149 new recoveries, raising the recovery tally to 36,383.

Another 196 new cases were also reported, bringing the active case tally to 2,291 out of a total of 38,788 infections.

The death toll stands at 114.
