P13.6-M shabu seized in Sulu town

Government operatives arrested on Tuesday a suspected big-time drug personality and seized some PHP13.6 million worth of illegal drugs in Indanan, Sulu, a police official said Tuesday.

However, Maj. Edwin Sapa, Indanan police chief, withheld the identity of the arrested suspect since a follow-up operation is ongoing against the suspect’s cohorts.

Sapa said in a statement that the suspect was arrested by joint operatives of the police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and military in an anti-drug operation around 1 p.m. in Barangay Buansa, Indanan.

He said seized from the suspect were 2 kg. of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of PHP13.6 million, 20 bundles of photocopied PHP1,000 bills used as boodle money, and a genuine PHP1,000 marked money placed in a paper bag.

He said the suspect and the seized items were placed under the custody of the PDEA in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) for proper disposition and filing of cases.

He said the anti-drug operation was launched following days of surveillance on the illegal drug trade activity of the suspect. (PNA)
