PCG brings over 4.2K tons of supplies to areas hit by ‘Odette’

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has so far brought a total of 4,224 tons of relief goods and other critical supplies as part of the government’s efforts to rehabilitate areas badly affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Odette in December last year.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the PCG said about 1,890.6 tons of goods were transported through its vessels and air assets, while 2,333.4 tons were shipped using the PCG Auxiliary aircraft and private vessels.

“As per the directive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the PCG Task Force Kalinga continues to utilize available assets and resources to help in the recovery of typhoon-stricken regions,” the PCG said.

Specifically, it said these goods and supplies were brought to Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga.

On December 16, Typhoon Odette (international Rei) battered Visayas and Mindanao, destroying 101,000 houses and affecting 1.2 million residents.
