The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has appealed to coastal residents to inform them if there are sightings of two missing fishermen who might have sought refuge in their area.

PDRRMO chief Broderick Train said in an interview Tuesday they are still searching for the fishermen from the Municipality of Hamtic in Antique who went fishing with three others in Cagayancillo, Palawan on March 9 and went missing the next day.

“We are appealing to the coastal folks to report to our office in San Jose de Buenavista in case they have found Armando Danao and Mark Anthony Aurea who were last seen on board the motorboat MBCA Sta. Monica,” Train said.

Danao and Aurea together with Carlos, John Cleo, and Dante, all surnamed Danao; and believed to be Armando’s relatives, left Hamtic onboard their fishing boat.

The fishing vessel suffered engine trouble due to strong waves prompting the two to decide to use a motorboat to call for help.

However, the two failed to immediately return while the three others repaired the fishing boat and were able to sail back to Hamtic on March 12 and reported the incident to the local police.

“The Coast Guard Antique Station together with the Municipal DRRMO are also helping to search for the fishermen,” Train said while their counterpart in Palawan has been informed about the missing fishermen.
