The recent survey conducted by OCTA Research, topped by the UniTeam of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, showed the “true sentiments” of voters.

Lawyer Vic Rodriguez, spokesperson of Marcos, said in a statement Monday that the presidential bet’s direct communication with the public “truly works”.

“Certainly, there is no substitute to showing up in person, in flesh and blood, just to be in the company of millions of individuals one wishes to serve,” Rodriguez said, pertaining to the series of UniTeam motorcades and campaigns nationwide.

“The whole world is watching what’s going on in the Philippine political stage. Our overseas Filipino workers and world leaders as well are getting the right information and the accurate picture, gladly through credible survey outfits like OCTA Research,” he added.

The February 2022 Tugon ng Masa survey showed Marcos was the preferred presidential candidate of 55 percent of respondents, followed by Vice President Leni Robredo who got 15 percent; Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, 11 percent; Senator Manny Pacquiao, 10 percent; and Senator Ping Lacson, 3 percent.

Among the vice-presidential hopefuls, Duterte was picked by 43 percent, followed by Senate President Vicente Sotto III, 33 percent; Senator Francis Pangilinan, 10 percent; Dr. Willie Ong, 7 percent; and Buhay party-list Representative Lito Atienza, 1 percent.

“We wish to express our deepest appreciation to OCTA Research for this selfless endeavor of regularly bringing the true sentiments of the Filipino people to light,” Rodriguez said, as he enjoined the Commission on Elections to ensure “the conduct of free, orderly, honest, and credible elections — the very essence of Philippine democracy.”
