A woman was arrested by anti-drug operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Station 2 during a buy-bust in Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2 on Wednesday.

The suspect was identified as Ferlene Joy Molate, 26, a resident of Purok Zone 6 in Barangay Handumanan.

Her live-in partner Louie Sombilla, 30, fled during the operation, the police report said.

At 1:45 a.m., Molate sold suspected shabu worth PHP500 to an undercover policeman, leading to her arrest.

Lt. Jonito Pastrana, deputy chief of Police Station 2, said in an interview that Molate is considered a street-level individual, who receives the supply and repacks the prohibited substance for distribution.

Her partner, tagged as a high-value individual, was previously detained for a drug-related case but was released in September 2019 after entering into a plea bargain, Pastrana added.

During the operation, Molate yielded six sachets and one knot-tied sachet containing suspected shabu.

The confiscated items weighed about 50 grams with an estimated street value of PHP340,000.

In a statement, Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, acting city police director, commended the operating unit for its relentless efforts in the campaign against illegal drugs.

“The Bacolod police continues to conduct anti-criminality operations to make Bacolod orderly and free from illegal drugs,” he added.
