Zambo City Covid-19 active cases continue to drop

Active cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) here are declining, the city health office (CHO) reported Friday.

Data from the CHO showed that active cases dropped to 1,519 as of February 9 from 1,748 on February 8 with a difference of 229 cases. Just last week, active cases were still at 2,631 as of February 1.

The CHO said 1,473 or 97 percent of the active cases were acquired through community transmission; detainees, 25: Bureau of Jail Management and Penology personnel, 16; authorized persons outside residence, four; and Bureau of Corrections, one.

The same record showed that 63.3 percent of the active cases are asymptomatic, 33.5 percent with mild symptoms, 2.4 percent moderate, and 0.8 critical.

On February 9, some 313 new recoveries were recorded while only 86 new cases were registered.

On the same day, however, the death toll went up to 1,170 as two additional new deaths were logged.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 20202, the city has recorded 25,396 recoveries representing a 90.42 percent recovery rate from a total of 28,085 confirmed cases. (
