The City Health Office (CHO) has recorded some 410 breakthrough infections as of March this year when the rollout of vaccination against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) started in this city.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, on Tuesday described a breakthrough infection as someone found with SARS-CoV-2 in their system 14 days after completing their single- or two-dose Covid-19 vaccine.

Miravite said 178 of the 410 got their first dose, while the remaining 232 were fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

“Fully vaccinated means that they already got the two doses of vaccines and they were infected 14 days after their second dose,” she said.

She said five deaths were also logged, two of whom were fully vaccinated and three got their first dose of the vaccine.

She said all of those who died have other comorbidities, adding the rest of the patients experienced mild to moderate symptoms and are now fully recovered.

The CHO has administered some 261,147 doses of vaccines. Of the total, 154,067 got the first dose and the remaining 107,080 received their second dose. (PNA)
