Davao city: Some 1,511 residents in Barangay Toril are set to receive their financial assistance under the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) program in an ongoing payout on August 12, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao (DSWD-11) announced in a public post. Under this initiative, qualified recipients classified under "Group 2"-comprising poor and near-poor households not currently enrolled in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps)-are entitled to monthly cash assistance of PHP2,000.
According to Philippines News Agency, the monthly subsidy, running through December, is designed to help families buffer against rising living costs, secure basic food supplies, and manage everyday household needs. "The DSWD continues to champion the delivery of programs that address the needs of families in need, as part of its mandate to provide protection and support to sectors requiring the most assistance," the agency added.
Alongside the cash distribution, beneficiaries underwent registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or National ID and were assisted in opening official savings accounts through partner institutions, including the Land Bank of the Philippines and the Bank of the Philippine Islands. The agency noted that while initial payouts are conducted manually to assist first-time recipients, succeeding allocations will transition to direct electronic disbursements via digital wallets and authorized banking channels.
"Through the simultaneous delivery of these services, the DSWD aims to make government programs more accessible to beneficiaries and help them gain better access to financial services," DSWD-11 added. As of August 11, DSWD-11 reported that the UPLIFT Assistance program has reached 35,013 households in the Davao Region. Data from the agency showed that more than PHP70 million was disbursed under the program. The UPLIFT program forms part of the DSWD's continuing efforts to strengthen social protection and ensure that vulnerable communities receive timely and comprehensive assistance.
