Albay: The provincial government of Albay has begun enforcing a ban on 12-wheeler trucks and larger vehicles from plying certain roads in the province. Under Executive Order (EO) 5, issued Thursday night, Albay Governor Noel Rosal said the ban aims to prevent further damage to provincial, city, municipal, and barangay roads. According to Philippines News Agency, the prohibition mentioned in the executive order shall only be temporary, pending the development of a comprehensive road improvement plan for Albay and/or amendments to Provincial Ordinance No. 99-009, also known as the Provincial Traffic Safety Code of the Province of Albay. Trucks found violating this ban could face permit revocation. The executive order is based on Section 16 of the Local Government Code of 1991, which empowers local chief executives to adopt measures that promote the general welfare of their constituents.
