168 police help desks set up in Pangasinan for ‘Undas’

MALASIQUI, Pangasinan - About 168 police assistance desks will be established in cemeteries and memorial parks starting Thursday until Nov. 2 or during the observance of 'Undas' (All Saints' and All Souls' Days), the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) said. In an interview Wednesday, PPPO information officer Capt. Renan dela Cruz said the police assistance desks would be manned by 1,073 police personnel to ensure peace and order, and provide security and assistance to the people visiting the tombs of their loved ones. He said the PNP Maritime Group will provide augmentation, and they also tapped 241 advocacy groups from the province, hence an additional 1,500-2,000 manpower. He, however, assured that there will be police officers in transport hubs and recreational areas. "Hindi lahat deployed para di mapabayaan ang peace and security in other areas (Not everyone will be deployed in the cemeteries to ensure peace and security in other areas)," he said. Dela Cruz asked the public to follow the prot ocols set in visiting cemeteries or memorial parks, especially the prohibition on bladed items or any kind of weapons to prevent these from being confiscated. PPPO director Col. Rollyfer Capoquian, in a statement, also urged the cooperation of the public. "Huwag din po kayong mag-alinlangangang lumapit sa amin anumang oras dahil ang pulis ng Pangasinan ay magaling at maaasahan (Do not hesitate to ask help from us anytime since our mantra is that the Pangasinan police personnel are efficient and reliable)," he said. Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Ilocos Region will also set up 10 motorist assistance hubs all over the province for the holidays to assist motorists. The DPWH Pangasinan 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) team will assist the motorists along the Pangasinan-Zambales Road while the team from the 2nd DEO will assist motorists in Barangay Guibel, San Jacinto Section along Managaldan-Manaoag Binalonan Road, and in Barangay Manat, Binmaley, Pangasinan, which is along Pangasinan-Zambales Road. The Pangasinan 3rd DEO team will be positioned along Manila North Road (MNR), Barangay Palac-Palac, Pozorrubio, Pangasinan; Barangay Linmansangan along Mangaldan-Manaoag-Binalonan Road; MNR, Barangay Anonas in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan (Entrance/Exit of Tarlac Pangasinan La Union Expressway or TPLEX) and at MNR, Barangay East, Carmen Section, Rosales, Pangasinan (Infront of Quarantine Area Checkpoint), while the team of Pangasinan 4th DEO will be deployed at Barangays Maningding; Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, and at Calasiao Junction, Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao, along Urdaneta Junction-Dagupan Road. Source: Philippines News Agency
