17 Filipino Crew of MV Hondius Arrive in Netherlands for Quarantine

Netherlands: The second batch of Filipinos from the hantavirus-affected MV Hondius has arrived in the Netherlands to begin their quarantine period before returning to the Philippines. This group of 17 crew members, along with other foreign passengers, was part of evacuation flights organized by the Netherlands from Tenerife in Spain's Canary Islands, landing at Eindhoven Airport early Tuesday morning.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Embassy in The Hague is coordinating with Dutch authorities and the Migrant Workers Offices in Berlin to arrange the repatriation of all 38 Filipino crew members back to the Philippines. The embassy expressed its gratitude to the Netherlands Government for its proactive and careful management of the public health situation, ensuring strict adherence to applicable protocols.

Upon arrival, all crew members underwent medical testing before being taken to designated local facilities for quarantine. Another 17 crew members remain on the ship and are scheduled to arrive in Rotterdam on May 18 aboard the MV Hondius. The latest group was welcomed by Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands J. Eduardo Malaya, along with Dutch health and foreign ministry officials. The first batch of four Filipino crew members arrived in the Netherlands last Sunday.
