Manila: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is set to offer more than 190,000 local and overseas jobs across 90 sites nationwide as part of the 124th Labor Day celebration this Friday.
According to Philippines News Agency, DOLE Assistant Secretary Lennard Serrano announced at a press conference that 2,274 employers will participate in the job fairs. "For this year, we have 2,274 employers joining the nationwide job fairs, providing over 190,000 jobs," Serrano stated.
In the National Capital Region, job fair sites include SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, SM Grand Central and SM City in Kalookan City, Robinsons Manila, Ayala Malls Circuit in Makati City, Taguig Convention Center, and Para±aque City Social Hall and Sports Complex. Additional Metro Manila venues are Robinsons Place and SM Southmall in Las Pi±as, Robinsons Metro East in Pasig City, Museo de Pateros, SM Marikina, and Quezon City MICE Center.
The main venue for the event is the KCC Convention and Events Center at KCC Mall of Gensan in General Santos City, where President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will distribute financial and livelihood aid under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program.
Top vacancies available include roles in wholesale and retail, manufacturing, construction, business process outsourcing, and accommodation and food services. In-demand positions are stock clerks and sales associates, production operators and workers, carpenters, foremen, steelmen, customer service representatives, and service crew, line cooks, and baristas.
Serrano also mentioned that 48 Kadiwa ng Pangulo sites will offer affordable goods. "We also have Kadiwa ng Pangulo booths wherein participants of the job fairs can avail of low prices of basic commodities," he said.
Additionally, one-stop shop booths will provide easier access to services from agencies such as the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., and Pag-IBIG. "We have one-stop shop booths, where job seekers may avail of the services, securing clearance from partner government agencies," Serrano added.
This year's Labor Day theme is "Disenteng Trabaho para sa Lahat: Iisang Hangarin, Bagong Pilipinas Sama-Samang Mararating" (Decent Work for All: One Goal, One New Philippines We Will Achieve Together).
