2 Arrested in Butuan Drug Bust; PHP1.7 Million Worth of Shabu Seized

Butuan: A buy-bust operation on Thursday evening led to the arrest of two individuals and the confiscation of approximately 250 grams of methamphetamine, locally known as "shabu," with an estimated street value of PHP1.7 million.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) released a report on Friday identifying the suspects as 'Jibby,' 32, a resident of Barangay 1, Cabadbaran City, and 'Jason,' 38, residing in Barangay Dona Rosario, Tubay, Agusan del Norte.

PRO-13 director, Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano, stated that the suspects were under close surveillance by operatives after a credible tip from a local informant indicated their involvement in the illegal drug trade.

The two individuals are currently in the custody of the Butuan City Police Office, awaiting the formal filing of criminal charges against them. Brigadier General Abrahano noted that they will face charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
