Manila: Some PHP34.6 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in two-day police operations nationwide, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said. The operations, conducted on Friday and Saturday, also resulted in the arrest of 11 drug suspects, including eight identified as high-value individuals (HVIs).
According to Philippines News Agency, the PNP reported that police units confiscated a total of 4.95 kilograms of suspected shabu through buy-bust operations, warrant-based arrests, and joint anti-drug actions. These operations were carried out with support from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) across several regions, including Central Visayas, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Negros Island Region.
Notable seizures were recorded in Ormoc City and Cagayan de Oro City, where more than 1 kilogram of suspected shabu was recovered in separate operations. In Palawan, suspected illegal drugs were turned over by a civilian, "reflecting growing community participation in anti-drug efforts," the PNP added.
"Tuluy-tuloy lang po ang laban natin kontra illegal drugs (Our fight against illegal drugs continues). We are hitting both street-level pushers and high-value targets, and we will keep doing so," acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.
All the arrested suspects are now under police custody and will face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The confiscated evidence, meanwhile, has been submitted to PNP forensic units for laboratory examination and proper disposition.
