Antique Provincial Board Member Calls for Timely Release of Crisis Financial Aid

Antique: Antique Provincial Board Member Joseph Eugene Alojipan is advocating for the prompt distribution of financial aid to individuals in crisis situations (AICS) provided by the province. Alojipan emphasized the necessity of timely aid during a privilege speech delivered at a regular session. He highlighted the importance of the AICS program for indigents requiring support for medical care, food, and burial expenses.

According to Philippines News Agency, Alojipan urged the relevant offices and the new administration to address the delays, streamline procedures, and ensure the aid's timely, transparent, and humane release. Currently, the release process for AICS can exceed a month, even after applicants have submitted necessary documents like medical or death certificates and social case study reports.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) conducts case study reports and then forwards the documents to the provincial treasurer, accountant, and budget offices, which contributes to the delay in financial assistance distribution. Alojipan stressed that constituents deserve prompt help delivered with dignity and compassion.

The privilege speech has been referred to the committees on health, social services, and family, women, children, and gender concerns for further action. Alojipan announced plans to convene a joint committee hearing with the concerned offices to discuss the possibility of releasing the AICS within 30 days or less.
