Sorsogon city: The National Housing Authority in Bicol (NHA-5) reported on Monday that more than 2,000 residents availed themselves of government services during the agency's 'People's Caravan: Serbisyong Dala ay Pag-asa,' recently held at the Sorsogon provincial capitol grounds in Sorsogon City.
According to Philippines News Agency, NHA-5 Acting Regional Manager Engr. Rolando G. Ramos stated that the caravan, which took place on August 6, brought together 36 government and private sector partner agencies. These agencies offered various services, including civil registration, identification documents, health care, employment, livelihood, legal assistance, and financial literacy.
The event saw participation from numerous agencies such as the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Philippine National Police, Social Security System, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, Land Transportation Office, Department of Health, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and Department of Agriculture.
Activities at the caravan included a job fair, medical and dental missions, skills demonstrations, a KADIWA Pop-Up Store, and the distribution of agricultural inputs like seedlings and fingerlings. The Department of Information and Communications Technology provided free Wi-Fi and e-GovPH assistance, while the Public Attorney's Office offered legal and notarial services. Additionally, the Philippine Information Agency conducted an orientation on identifying and debunking fake news.
NHA-5 noted that this activity was the first of several caravans scheduled for August, as part of its ongoing effort to make essential government services more accessible to housing beneficiaries and communities. This initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s 'Bagong Pilipinas' agenda, which aims to bring government services closer to Filipinos.
