20,000 Permanent Roles Await Fulfillment in Cordillera Government Agencies

Baguio: The Civil Service Commission-Cordillera Administrative Region (CSC-CAR) has made a call to government agencies to address the significant number of unfilled positions within the region. This move aims to improve the delivery of public service by filling over 20,000 vacant plantilla positions.

According to Philippines News Agency, officials from CSC-CAR revealed that despite 47,188 individuals holding permanent government roles in the region, approximately one-third of the available plantilla items remain unfilled. Myra Walis-Nuarin, the chief human resource specialist of CSC-CAR, shared during a press briefing for the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary that 67,790 plantilla positions exist in the Cordillera Administrative Region, with about 20,000 still vacant.

To aid in connecting qualified candidates with these open positions, the CSC has organized a government job fair scheduled for September 9 at SM City Baguio. The event will see the participation of at least 19 agencies offering a total of 1,739 vacancies. Notably, 800 positions are available with the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The agency also reminded potential applicants of the requirement for civil service eligibility to join the government workforce. Recent statistics show that only 13 to 15 percent of examinees in the region have passed the necessary exams. Additionally, certain positions may require specialized training and relevant experience, emphasizing the need for qualified and well-prepared candidates.
