La union: A total of 260 families in La Union have evacuated due to the effects of a low-pressure area (formerly Tropical Depression Luis) and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, 166 families or 510 individuals are staying in evacuation centers in Bacnotan, Bangar, Naguilian, and Bagulin towns, while 33 families or 119 individuals are staying outside evacuation centers, based on the report of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO). It added that 61 families were preemptively evacuated in Bauang and Aringay towns.

The PDRRMO also reported flooding in San Fernando City, and the towns of Bauang, Naguilian, and Santo Tomas. PDRRMO head Marc Cristopher Ortega stated they have deployed rescue teams and vehicles to evacuate stranded personnel in San Fernando City.

Fallen trees and landslides were monitored in Naguilian, with a mini landslide reported on San Jose Castro Road in Sudipen. As of posting time, all have been cleared and the road is now passable to all types of vehicles. The PDRRMO also reported mudslides in Barangay Narra Oeste, San Fernando City, and in Barangay Dallangayan Este, San Fernando City, particularly in Purok 6.

Meanwhile, 34 villages experienced power interruptions in Bauang, Naguilian, and San Fernando. On Monday night, the provincial government suspended classes at all levels, both in public and private, and work in government offices on Tuesday due to an orange rainfall warning (heavy to intense).
