Manila: Leading passenger ship and ferry operator 2GO Travel is set to launch a new sea route between Manila and Siargao starting October 20. The service will be facilitated by the vessel Saint Francis Xavier, which has the capacity to carry 1,900 passengers on a weekly trip. Departures from Manila are scheduled every Monday, with arrivals in Siargao anticipated the following day.
According to Philippines News Agency, the 28-hour voyage will offer fares ranging from PHP1,800 to PHP2,000, inclusive of free meals for passengers. Francis Chua, 2GO Travel's business unit head, emphasized the Filipino hospitality that awaits travelers. "We have a very big ship and a welcome dance will greet the passengers to showcase the hospitality and warmth of the Filipinos," Chua stated during an interview.
The Saint Francis Xavier boasts a range of amenities to enhance passenger comfort and entertainment. Onboard facilities include a salon and spa, dining halls, a caf©, souvenir stalls, nightly live band performances, karaoke rooms, an arcade, and a clinic. "It's like we are on an international cruise ship. World-class and would give comfort to our sea travelers," Chua added.
2GO Travel is collaborating with the Philippine Ports Authority, Maritime Industry Authority, and the Philippine Coast Guard to explore additional potential routes. However, Chua noted, "For now, we are focused on the Manila-Siargao route."
