BACOLOD CITY - Police operatives arrested three siblings, who yielded PHP1.36 million in shabu, in a buy-bust at Purok Kabugwason, Barangay Mansilingan here Wednesday morning, a report from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) showed. 'The BCPO remains committed to its intensified efforts in the campaign against illegal drugs and urges the public to continue supporting the authorities to address the problem,' Col. Joeresty Coronica, police city director, said in a statement. Police identified the suspects with their aliases as 'Eron,' 35; 'Irene,' 34; and 'Ilyn,' 26. At past 3 a.m., an undercover policeman bought two sachets of shabu worth PHP20,000 from the suspects during the operation conducted by the joint team of the City Drug Enforcement Unit and the Bacolod City Maritime Police Station. Operatives also seized from their possession four sachets of the same prohibited substance weighing 200 grams with a standard price of PHP6,800 per gram or a total of PHP1.36 million. Charges for violation of Sect ion 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against the suspects. The Wednesday morning haul is the latest among the series of major anti-drug operations conducted by the BCPO to prevent further proliferation of shabu in the ongoing 45th MassKara Festival. On Oct. 17, CDEU operatives seized a kilogram of shabu worth PHP6.8 million from a lone suspect during a buy-bust in Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay 12. Drug enforcement teams also recovered shabu valued at PHP6.8 million, or PHP3.4 million each, during the buy-busts conducted in Barangay Tangub and Barangay Singcang-Airport on Oct. 13 and 14, respectively.
