3,000 Police Officers Deployed for ‘Brigada Eskwela’ in Bicol Schools

Bicol: At least 3,000 police officers will be deployed to ensure the safe and orderly opening of the school year 2025-2026 on June 16, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) chief said on Tuesday. In a phone interview, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon explained that this deployment is part of the "Brigada Eskwela 2025" initiative aimed at supporting students, parents, teachers, and school administrators during the start of the school year.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dizon emphasized the goal of providing a safe learning environment for students and peace of mind for parents and guardians. The police are collaborating with local government units, school officials, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth school opening. The personnel will engage in foot and mobile patrols and manage Police Assistance Desks (PADs) strategically placed in key areas near schools, transport terminals, and major thoroughfares.

The PRO-5 plans to enhance its visibility patrols around school zones and nearby communities to deter any threats to public safety. This proactive approach aims to prevent crimes such as theft, bullying, extortion, illegal drug activities, and other disruptions, particularly in highly populated and urban school areas.

PRO-5 will also continue its intensified anti-criminality operations, including checkpoint operations, Oplan Sita, and anti-drug enforcement activities. The police are committed to attending all community activities to ensure public safety and maintain peace and order, maintaining communication with school and barangay officials.

All police station hotlines within the region are operational around the clock, ready to receive emergency calls and incident reports. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or emergencies to ensure prompt response by authorities. The police reminded citizens to remain vigilant, observe personal safety measures, and immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station.
