Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided PHP2.3 million worth of assistance to 33,026 families, equivalent to 105,211 individuals, in four regions affected by the combined effects of Typhoon Bising and the southwest monsoon, known locally as "habagat".

According to Philippines News Agency, the DSWD reported that all 33,026 families across 82 barangays in the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and the Cordillera Administrative Region have received family food packs and non-food relief items from the department's Field Offices. Currently, only three families, or 15 individuals, are taking temporary shelter in two evacuation centers in Central Luzon.

Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the DSWD's Disaster Response Management Group stated that the department is committed to continuing its relief efforts to assist local government units still affected by the adverse weather conditions. The DSWD has prepared family food packs and other relief items for immediate dispatch to the areas impacted by the storm and monsoon.

The DSWD has confirmed that it possesses more than PHP3 billion in standby funds and stockpile available across its Field Offices, ensuring that the agency is well-equipped for ongoing humanitarian efforts. The Disaster Response Management Bureau remains on blue alert status, maintaining constant coordination and monitoring of the situation caused by Typhoon Bising and the southwest monsoon.

Members of the DSWD's Quick Response Team, alongside emergency equipment, are on standby for rapid deployment to affected regions. The National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau is actively engaged in repacking goods and monitoring the stockpile of food and non-food items to ensure sustained resource support.

Dumlao emphasized the importance of maintaining stock levels and replenishing supplies continuously to provide uninterrupted assistance to Field Offices and the local government units they support.
