365 Naga City Families Secure Land Tenure Via Mortgage Program

Naga city: A total of 365 families are set to achieve security of tenure as the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) turned over checks to the local government unit (LGU) for land acquisition on Thursday. According to Philippines News Agency, the turnover ceremony, held in conjunction with the celebration of the 78th Naga City Charter Anniversary, marks the initial rollout of the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program in the city. The program is under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) program. SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa, DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, and Naga City Mayor Maria Leonor Robredo led the awarding of the check. Under the land acquisition grant, the SHFC and DHSUD released over PHP8 million for the Sabang Puro Urban Kabisig HOAI, Inc. located in Barangay Sabang. Meanwhile, a check worth nearly PHP18 million was awarded to the Mabolo Homes Subdivision Homeowners' Association, Inc., Phase 1 in Barangay Mabolo. Laxa noted that beneficiaries could receive further assistance for community improvement and development under the SHFC's transformative approach. "Hindi po tayo dito nagtatapos sa pagbili lamang ng lupa. Tutulungan po namin kayo hanggang makamit ninyo ang sarili ninyong titulo (We do not stop here with just the purchase of land. We will help you until you achieve your own titles)," Laxa said. Robredo thanked the DHSUD and SHFC for bringing back the Community Mortgage Program (CMP). She said it remains the "most ideal" housing template because it eliminates the need to relocate residents, causing zero disruption to their livelihoods. "Talaga pong cream of the crop natin ang CMP dahil binibigyan natin sila ng security of tenure (The CMP is truly our cream of the crop because we are giving them security of tenure)," she said. Following the turn-over rites, Laxa and Pag-IBIG Chief Executive Officer Marilene Acosta participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Naga Rental Housing Project . The signing of a memorandum of understanding among the Pag-IBIG Fund, the Naga LGU, and Bella Vita followed. The series of events forms part of the national government's diverse housing modalities under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., which aims to provide safe, affordable, and permanent shelter for families in Naga City.
