370 Newly-Appointed Officers to Strengthen Ilocos Police Force

Ilocos: The Police Regional Office (PRO) 1 in Ilocos is set to enhance its operational capacity with the induction of 370 new officers once they complete their training regimen. In a recent phone interview, Maj. Divina Albino, who heads the PRO-1 information office, stated that these recruits have commenced their six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course at the Regional Training Center located in Aringay, La Union. This follows their oathtaking ceremony held on December 17.

According to Philippines News Agency, the training program is comprehensive, encompassing tactical exercises and subjects fundamental to policing, such as firearm handling. After completing this initial phase, recruits will undergo a six-month Public Safety Field Training Program. This segment involves practical, on-the-job training at various police stations within the region.

During their training period, recruits will earn a base salary of PHP29,668 per month. The recruitment process was competitive, with 370 individuals selected from a pool of 2,418 candidates. Specifically, 350 recruits (comprising 285 males and 65 females) were chosen via the Attrition Recruitment Program. Meanwhile, from the 108 applicants in the Regular Recruitment Program, 14 males and six females successfully passed.
