Albay: More than 4,000 indigent senior citizens from three towns and one city in Albay province have commenced receiving their pensions from the provincial government, covering the period from January to June this year.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Albay Provincial Information Office reported on Wednesday that each elderly citizen received PHP3,000 during a four-day distribution that began on Monday and is scheduled to conclude on Friday, with no distribution taking place on Thursday in observance of Independence Day.

The pension beneficiaries are distributed across several areas: Rapu-Rapu with 515 senior citizens; Camalig with 1,818; Oas with 1,318; and Ligao City with 811. These beneficiaries were carefully validated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of their respective areas.

In a recorded interview, Eden Gonzales, a beneficiary from Caracaran, Rapu-Rapu, expressed her gratitude to the Albay provincial government during the payout of social pensions at the Batan Covered Court on Monday. Gonzales mentioned that the assistance she received would be utilized for her medical needs.

Additionally, another set of beneficiaries is scheduled to receive their pensions next week from other towns and cities within Albay.
