MANILA: The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday reported the arrest of four individuals for falsifying public documents. The NBI identified the suspects as Paul Abellera, Edgardo Carpio, and Jenny Trajano, as well as a minor, who were caught in the act of falsifying official documents during an operation in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Oct. 15. Recovered from the four were computers, office tools, and spurious documents, such as NBI clearance, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) birth certificates, land titles, passports, and Land Transportation Office certificates. NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the individuals were selling the fake documents for PHP700 to PHP2,500. The suspects were presented for inquest proceedings before the Manila Prosecutor's Office for violating Article 172 in relation to Article 171 of the Revised Penal Code.
