Hinoba-an: Four farmers and vendors associations in southern Negros Occidental have been awarded PHP2.4 million in seed capital through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development - Negros Island Region.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Daug Fish Sanctuary Vendors Association (DAFISAVA) received PHP600,000 on September 15 to initiate a community restaurant and snorkeling gear rental business. The Daug Marine Reserve and Sanctuary, located in Hinoba-an, is gaining popularity as a tourist destination. Mayor Daph Reliquias expressed support, stating, "Congratulations to DAFISAVA on this well-deserved support. May this assistance help strengthen your livelihood and bring more opportunities to your members and the community."

In Ilog, three associations were each granted PHP600,000 to facilitate their enterprise ventures. The Canlamay Small Farmers Association plans to operate a mobile rice machine. The Barangay 1 Erpat Laborers Association will focus on motorcycle parts and accessories, while the Consuelo Small Vendors Association aims to manage a general merchandise business. The Ilog municipal social welfare and development office commented, "This represents another meaningful step toward providing sustainable livelihood opportunities, strengthening community organizations, and empowering beneficiaries to build better and more resilient sources of income."

The SLP targets poor, vulnerable, and marginalized households and communities, offering capacity-building initiatives to enhance socio-economic conditions. It provides access to essential assets, enabling participants to engage in and sustain profitable livelihoods.
