Iloilo City: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Iloilo City received 417 automated counting machines (ACMs) on Monday, delivered to their hub at the Jubilee Hall, as part of preparations for the upcoming May 12 elections.
According to Philippines News Agency, the allocation is intended for 419 voting places and is currently secured at the hub. Comelec Iloilo City Election Assistant Jonathan Sayno stated in an interview that Philippine National Police personnel will ensure 24/7 security until the ACMs are dispatched to 66 voting centers across Iloilo City.
The delivery of the machines to polling centers is scheduled for May 6, ahead of the final testing and sealing activities planned for May 7. With the ACMs now in place, Sayno mentioned that the election body is awaiting the arrival of official ballots, which are expected to be delivered next week.
