Manila: At least 43 percent, or about four in 10 adult Filipinos, see bribery as the most serious impeachment charge against Vice President Sara Duterte, according to an OCTA Research survey released on Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the survey, conducted from July 4 to 11, 2026, presented four bases for impeachment and asked 1,200 respondents to identify which among these "grounds for impeachment" they perceive as most serious and should be prioritized.

Aside from bribery, 'misuse of confidential funds' ranked second with 28 percent, followed by "unexplained wealth" and "grave threats," each with 10 percent. At least 8 percent of the respondents were unsure, choosing "don't know/can't say."

"The survey findings indicate that Filipinos do not view all impeachment charges with equal weight. Rather, they distinguish among the allegations and assign greater importance to some than others," the OCTA stated.

Bribery was considered the most serious charge by respondents in the Visayas (54 percent), National Capital Region (47 percent), and Mindanao (43 percent).

Among different age groups, the charge of bribery was most significant for those aged 25 to 34 (52 percent) and those aged 35 to 44 (46 percent).

By socioeconomic class, bribery emerged as the leading impeachment charge among Class ABC respondents (37 percent), Class D (43 percent), and Class E (50 percent).

The survey has a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level. Subnational estimates for the geographic areas covered in the survey have margins of error of ±6 percent for NCR, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, also at a 95 percent confidence level, according to OCTA.
