Manila: A total of 47 companies and other industry stakeholders, such as training institutions, are supporting the country's hosting of the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 on Aug. 26 to 28, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) said on Friday. The companies provide access to their equipment and workshops, either for training the local participants or for use during the main competition to be held at World Trade Center in Pasay City.
According to Philippines News Agency, TESDA Secretary Francisco Benitez mentioned that by co-developing skill areas, validating assessment criteria, and participating in technical working groups, the firms help ensure that the competition reflects the realities of the labor market. Industry partners provide real-world training environments, allowing local competitors to hone their skills using the latest tools, technologies, and processes.
The event's success is heavily reliant on the strong collaboration with the private sector, as emphasized by TESDA. About 300 delegates and their companions from the 11 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) nations are expected to participate. The competition will feature six skills areas with 32 specific skills, including information and communications technology. This will encompass specific skills like cybersecurity, information network cabling, the internet of things, and information technology network systems, along with emerging skills in manufacturing and engineering technology.
