4,788 Activities Strengthen PNP’s Cyber Safety Drive

Manila: The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) on Friday said it is expanding its efforts to put practical cyber safety information within the reach of more Filipinos, with 4,788 activities conducted nationwide in August 2026. 'We want people to have the right information before a problem happens. Simple awareness can already prevent a lot of trouble online. Kaya ang focus natin (that is why our focus) is to keep the public informed, reachable, and ready to respond when something does not look right,' PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said in a statement.

According to Philippines News Agency, the activities, carried out from Aug. 1 to 31, included public awareness and education sessions, partnerships with various sectors, community mobilization, media and information initiatives, as well as intervention and reintegration programs.

A large portion of the month's activities involved media and information efforts, totaling 4,256, allowing cyber safety reminders and prevention information to reach the public through various communication platforms.

'These were complemented by 354 awareness and education activities, 16 alliance and partnership initiatives, 150 organization and mobilization activities, and 12 intervention and reintegration activities,' the PNP-ACG said.

For the PNP, strengthening cyber safety also means making information accessible before people become victims.

The ACG continues to encourage the public to exercise caution online, protect personal information, verify suspicious messages or offers, and seek proper assistance when confronted with possible cybercrime.

The continuing campaign is aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda and implemented through the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) framework, strengthening the police organization's preventive and responsive approach to emerging threats.

It likewise supports the public safety priorities of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., particularly as more Filipinos rely on digital platforms for communication, transactions, and everyday activities.
