Daet: The Department of Labor and Employment in Bicol (DOLE-5) awarded PHP2.4 million worth of livelihood starter kits to 50 beneficiaries of its integrated livelihood program in Daet, Camarines Norte. The initiative, known as Project DAET (Diversified Approaches to Economic Thriving), aims to support and jumpstart various enterprises for the recipients.

According to Philippines News Agency, Johana Vi Gasga, DOLE-Bicol spokesperson, reported that the beneficiaries received kits equipped with tools and materials for endeavors such as food vending, baking, sewing, Nego-karts, barber services, fishing, feeds production, meat vending, welding, t-shirt printing, nail care services, and masonry.

DOLE Bicol Regional Director Imelda Gatinao highlighted that the livelihood opportunities provide beneficiaries with a wider range of options to earn and sustain their income. She emphasized that the initiative is not merely about providing resources but also about helping families build stronger and more resilient livelihoods that fit their skills and meet the needs of their communities.

Gene Norte, a 53-year-old solo parent who received a Nego-kart for her street-food vending business, expressed her gratitude, noting that it has been a dream to start her own business and secure a steady source of income to support her family. Similarly, Ronnie Boy Cabalquinto, a 44-year-old welder, thanked the government for the livelihood support.
