5,000 Police Officers to Ensure Safe Elections in Mimaropa

Mimaropa: The Police Regional Office (PRO) 4B is set to deploy 5,000 police officers to ensure that the May 12 mid-term elections in the region are conducted peacefully and orderly. These officers will be stationed at 1,569 polling precincts across Mindoro (Oriental and Occidental), Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mimaropa police chief Brig. Gen. Roger Quesada emphasized the importance of maintaining a region free from any election-related incidents (ERI). A conference was recently held with police commanders in the region to discuss security measures for election day. Quesada highlighted the strategic deployment of personnel, enhanced coordination with election stakeholders, and proactive approaches to address potential threats.

Quesada also noted a 14.47 percent drop in crime incidents, with numbers decreasing from 1,907 in the first four months of 2024 to 1,631 in the same period this year. He encouraged the public to be cautious and responsible when sharing information, advising reliance on credible sources such as the Comelec (Commission on Elections), PNP (Philippine National Police), and other official agencies to combat the spread of fake news.
