619 Nabbed, 640 Firearms Seized in 5-Month Gun Ban in C. Luzon

Central Luzon: A total of 619 violators were nabbed in Central Luzon during the five-month implementation of the nationwide gun ban for the May 12 midterm elections. Aside from the arrest of violators, 640 assorted illegal firearms were also seized in the region from Jan. 12 to June 11, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 (Central Luzon) reported on Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, this accomplishment reflects the commitment and proactive stance of the police force in enforcing the law and safeguarding communities, especially during the election season, as stated by PRO-3 Director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo. Fajardo emphasized that enhanced coordination among law enforcement agencies, local government units, and community stakeholders played a crucial role in the success of the operations against gun ban violators.

These partnerships were instrumental in rooting out illegal weapons and preventing potential election-related violence. The operations were part of the Philippine National Police's broader effort to foster a safe and secure environment in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to enhance police visibility and presence in communities nationwide.

Fajardo urged the public to remain vigilant and actively support law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities, particularly those involving firearms, to the nearest police station or through PRO-3's official hotlines and social media platforms.
