Pangasinan: The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) has identified seven individuals responsible for the online threats in several schools across various localities of the province.

According to Philippines News Agency, Maj. Aileen Catugas, the Pangasinan PPO information officer, revealed in a phone interview on Friday that of the ten threat incidents, seven were considered solved. "Cases of violation of Presidential Decree 1727 and grave threat in relation to Republic Act 10175 have been filed in three out of the seven incidents, while the four others were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office for further proceedings, while the remaining three are still under investigation," she stated.

The school threats, recorded between July 18 and 28 this year, occurred in Rosales, Lingayen, Sto. Tomas, Mangaldan, Bautista, San Jacinto, San Manuel, Laoac, Bayambang towns, and San Carlos City. These incidents involved bomb threats, shooting threats, and alarming posts circulated through various social media platforms.

"Through the immediate deployment of police personnel and close coordination with school authorities, local government units, and various government agencies, the Pangasinan PPO ensured the safety of students, teachers, school personnel, and the public while conducting thorough investigations into each incident," Catugas explained.

The Pangasinan PPO has reminded the public to use social media responsibly, warning that posting false threats, spreading alarming information, or causing unnecessary public panic are punishable under existing laws. "The office also encourages the public to immediately report any suspicious activities or online threats to the nearest police station for prompt verification and appropriate action," she added.
