Pangasinan: A 55-year-old male who had a health emergency was saved due to the swift response of police personnel in Pangasinan.

According to Philippines News Agency, citing the report from Sison Police Station in Pangasinan, Ilocos Police Acting Director Brig. Gen. Dindo Reyes, in a press conference on Thursday, said the 911 emergency hotline received a call at dawn on June 25 from a concerned citizen who reported a man who fell unconscious at a bus stop at Barangay Poblacion Central in the town.

"Within three minutes, police personnel responded and brought the man to Pozorrubio Community Hospital, where he was given treatment," he said. Reyes, quoting the patient's wife, said the man is suffering from asthma and has been experiencing fever for a couple of days when he lost consciousness while they were in transit. Reyes said the man is now in a stable condition after getting treatment in the hospital.

Reyes said they abide and fully support the Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III's three-point leadership pillars; swift and responsive in public service; unity and morale within the ranks of police; and accountability and modernization. "No more delayed action. No more excuses. When someone calls for help, we arrive, we respond, we resolve," he said.

Reyes said the 911 command centers will be reinforced in urban areas, mobile patrol coverage will be expanded and stricter response monitoring mechanisms will be implemented. He said 911 calls are directed to the national headquarters and then referred to them on the ground with a prompt response time. There are over 10,000 uniformed and non-uniformed police personnel in the entire Ilocos Region.
