93% of Caraga LGUs Embrace e-LGU Digital Platform, DICT Reports

Caraga: Sixty-eight out of 73 local government units (LGUs) in the Caraga Region have adopted the Electronic Local Government Unit (e-LGU) digital platform, a software designed to streamline and automate public services, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT-13) said Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, 93 percent of the region's local governments have embraced the platform, with it already operational in 53 LGUs. Additionally, 11 LGUs are currently undergoing pilot testing, while four are still in the process of administrative training and system setup, as per DICT-13 data.

Caraga's six cities are taking varied approaches to digital integration. Butuan and Bayugan have opted to implement their own digital platforms akin to e-LGU, whereas Surigao City is in the process of establishing its system. Meanwhile, Tandag, Bislig in Surigao del Sur, and Cabadbaran in Agusan del Norte are fully implementing the DICT-13 e-LGU platform.

During a Kapihan forum at City Hall on Monday, DICT-13 Regional Director Mario Cu±ado highlighted the significance of the e-LGU system in facilitating business transactions. He stated, "The digital system can help our LGUs increase their revenues and comply with the Ease of Doing Business Law that streamlines government services and reduces bureaucratic red tape."

The e-LGU system is provided free of charge to LGUs, which includes hosting and technical services from the agency's dedicated seven-member technical team.
