Manila: Cabinet Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. has pledged justice and government support for the family of slain transport network vehicle service (TNVS) rider Fabio Norberte Jr. during a visit to his wake. Abalos conveyed President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s condolences to the grieving family and assured them of the government's continued assistance.
According to Philippines News Agency, Abalos provided financial support to Norberte's family and vowed that authorities would ensure justice is served. He expressed a personal commitment to assist Norberte's child, who has autism, and promised to coordinate with the family to maintain ongoing support for the child. Abalos stressed the government's dedication to collaborating with relevant agencies to meet the family's needs as efforts to apprehend those responsible for the crime continue.
Norberte, a rider for Move It, was brutally attacked with an ice pick by a passenger while on duty in Caloocan on Tuesday, July 14. The shocking incident was recorded on CCTV. The suspect allegedly stole Norberte's motorcycle and fled the scene, later attempting to rob another individual of a mobile phone in Malabon City, where he was eventually apprehended.
