Manila: The Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (ABAC) has entered into a partnership with Petron Corporation to design, construct, and operate a jet fuel farm at the Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA). According to Philippines News Agency, this collaboration marks a significant step toward modernizing the airport's infrastructure. ABAC General Manager Aldwin Uy emphasized the importance of this agreement, stating that it will secure a resilient and world-class fuel infrastructure to meet the increasing aviation needs of Bohol.

The PHP340-million project involves building a storage facility with a capacity of 3x477 kiloliters (KL), with completion expected in the third quarter of 2027. The project will adhere to global quality and safety standards, following the latest Joint Inspection Group (JIG) guidelines. ABAC highlighted that having a permanent on-site fuel farm will ensure fuel supply reliability by maintaining a minimum five-day storage capacity, thus enhancing overall operational efficiency.

The fuel farm aims to meet the growing operational demands of BPIA, which currently requires 102 KL of fuel daily, divided between international and domestic flights. To protect airlines, the partnership agreement includes provisions to regulate all applicable facility rates by ABAC, ensuring an open-access environment and preventing supplier discrimination if more fuel suppliers enter the BPIA market in the future.

Petron, the largest oil company in the Philippines, already operates a fuel farm at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, further cementing its role as a leader in the industry.
